Breaking the Code

A compassionate and often amusing true story about the remarkable mind and tragic fate of Alan Turing, English mathematician-cum-British war hero who figured out the way to break the famous German Enigma Code during WWII enabling the Allies to gain valuable knowledge about German troop movements which was a key component in the success of the Allied war effort. The story is about the private life of an unusual and brilliant man who happened to be a homosexual. His tragic death was brought about by a Government that honored his patriotic achievement, lauded him as a hero but would not tolerate his sexual orientation, Turing was unprepared for the Bristish code of sexual discretion. He did little to disguise his homosexuality and for this he was arrested on a charge of gross indecency. As the result of his prosecution and humiliation England and the world lost one of the finest mathematical minds of our era.

Key for Two

Harriet, a divorcee living in an elegant flat in Brighton, solves her financial problems by entertaining two married gentlemen callers on different days of the week. The scheme faces collapse when her friend Anne, whose marriage is tottering arrives at the flat hotly pursued by her husband. In the ensuing chaos one of Harriet's lovers is confined to her bed with a sprained ankle, and the second lover turns up unexpectedly, closely followed by two irate wives in search of itinerant husbands!

Inspired by real events, Moonlight and Magnolias is the behind-the-scenes account of the frenetic collaboration between film producer David O. Selznick, director Victor Fleming, screenwriter Ben Hecht (and let’s not forget Mr. Selznick’s personal assistant, Miss Poppenghul). Together, this merry band, in one very hectic week, valiantly and hilariously struggles together to (re) write the final screenplay for the film epic, Gone With The Wind.
